Who are we?

In the early Eighties, having served in the Falklands, a young man left the Royal Marines with the princely sum of £150 in his pocket. This he spent on nuts and fruits at his local wholefood supplier and took a market stall. The next day he was back at the suppliers buying £200 of nuts and fruit...

Today, having progressed from Market Trader to Manufacturer/Distributor, via Shopkeeper, Michael Pile still operates his business in a very 'hands-on' fashion. The company supplies Health Food Shops, Wholefood Shops, Greengrocers, Farm Shops, Manufacturers, Bakers, Wholesalers, Caterers, Loose Food retailers (Scoop Shops), and Cruise Liners. Oh, and the supplier from whom Michael bought his first stock is still in business, and we now supply them.

What do we do?

We pack All our own products are hand-packed by trained operatives to maintain our high quality standards. Everything is packed to order; we hold no stocks of our products pre-packed. If your delivery day is, say, Wednesday, your order is packed on Tuesday - you ordered on Monday (didn't you?).

We pack Organic In 1998, we expanded our packing facilities to allow for the segregation of products necessary to pack organic items. We are certified by Organic Farmers & Growers and all organic products packed by us bear their symbol as your guarantee of authenticity.

We pack own label By default, we label all products packed by us with your name and address. We do not sell direct to the public and see no reason to promote our name by putting it on your stock. There is no charge for this service. Some of our customers have had 'blank' labels produced to reflect a distinctive house style, logo or colour scheme. Initially there is a nominal charge by our printers for production of the plate; thereafter we offer this service free of charge. Our new software also enables us to customise the style and layout of your label to precisely suit your needs.

We mix We list nearly forty varieties of muesli, and when you add in the nut mixes, fruit mixes, sweet snack mixes, and the unlisted bespoke mixes for specific customer requirements, we probably mix and pack around a hundred different lines. If you require something we aren't listing, please ask.

We mix Organic Of course, the above applies equally to organic products, where the ingredients are available, and the demand exists.

We deliver Our operating area, at present, extends from Ipswich to the North East across to Bristol in the North West and is bounded by the sea to the West, South and East. Within this area we deliver on a weekly basis, and, subject to minimum delivery requirements, delivery is free. We only use carriers when specially requested for urgent overnight service or out-of-area deliveries.

We give discount We operate a simple payment policy. You pay cash, you get discount. You don't pay cash, you don't get discount. The larger the order, the larger the discount. Discount applies to all non-nett items on the invoice, but nett items count towards the total order value for calculating discount level.

We split cases Many of the branded goods we sell are available in part cases, and all products packed by us are available in half cases. i.e. normal case = 10 x 250g, 1/2 case = 5 x 250g. Unlike some suppliers, there is no surcharge for this service.

We listen If there is something special you need that we can source from one of our many suppliers, or a bespoke mix that we can make up for you, then we will try. You have only to ask.
